joining) The CW for their season premiers. The
show that launched Greg Berlanti’s Arrowverse,
Arrow, will be returning for its fifth season, while
The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow will be be
premiering their third and second seasons,
respectively. Of course, Supergirl‘s second
season will be airing on The CW after moving
from CBS.
With four DC Comics shows all airing on one
network, anticipation for the four series’ premiers
could not be higher. We already know there will
be at least two major crossovers. One will span
all four shows , while the other crossover will be
a musical uniting The Flash and Supergirl stars
Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist, both Glee
alumni. While Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, and
Supergirl are highly anticipated, excitement has
to be the highest for The Flash ‘s third season,
which will address the ramifications of Barry
Allen saving his mother at the end of season 2.
With at least the first few episodes of season 3
tackling a “Flashpoint” storyline , any information
at all regarding the season, and where we will
find Barry Allen, is eagerly awaited.
For now, The CW has released a new promo
(above) for the upcoming season. While the
video offers very little footage that we haven’t
seen elsewhere, it is still a fun tease at the
struggles Barry Allen will have to deal with after
altering the timeline. We already know from the
upcoming season’s Comic-Con trailer that Barry’s
relationship with many of the main characters
will be much different. In the promo, this is
reaffirmed, with Iris asking Barry, “W e’re
something else to each other aren’t we? ” indicating
their relationship is not nearly as strong as it
was.
It is also hinted that, much like the “Flashpoint”
comic, Barry Allen will begin to lose his
memories from the true timeline. Reverse-Flash,
who Barry Allen has caged, quips, “ Your original
life, your friends, your family, will fade away. ” This
is intercut with an image of Barry placing his
hand to his head, presumably while losing some
of his memories. The video also shows us more
of super rich Cisco Ramon, and Barry interacting
with his father, who is now alive, after being
killed by Zoom in season 2.
Season 3 of The Flash looks like it is going to be
jam packed with returning characters, new
villains, and plenty of obstacles to overcome for
Barry Allen. We can’t wait to see what Greg
Berlanti and team have in store for us.
