The Dance Movie Project Movie Review

Personally i loved the Movie in general, As Africa's First Afro beat dance movie. The story told was about how a group of street guys won a dance competition, and also for Wale and his brother to prove to their Mum that money could be made through dancing. Off course this is a project movie so i will try as much as possible to be lenient with my observations. Nice sound quality though and the music blend was also cool.

What went wrong?

We had shaky camera in some scenes and some wrong camera angles. The movie focused more on medium shot and close shot camera view, there was absence of long shots when needed because for the viewers to access how good a dance group is, he or she should be able to see at least one or two long shots where all dancers are in one frame or better still an aerial view of their routine if possible.

We had a really young man acting as a parent to the lead female protagonist with a little patch of white hair on his head. To have sold the story a bit more, we could have added a little wrinkle to the mix to make us believe it was her father. The underground as is being called is supposed to be the stage where all the dancers in the block come to battle. Quote me wrong but for a 5 million Naira dance competition, the underground shouldn't have been used to host such a mega competition, because the organisers for the dance competition might want to make money from PR, Adverts and News crews. We were expecting a change in the stage or better yet create an illusion that the stage was changed. The doctor in the movie seemed like he was afraid while acting.

What went right
Good narration, good story telling, good sound, good suspense, great costumes and We got a surprise dancer at the end, that was superb. The dances were also top notch, Loved the influx of celebrities like Banky W and Britain's got tallent runner up Nigerian dancers Ezinne and her crew, and so on and so forth.
Hoping for a sequel in the nearest future.. Good job guys.
