Young Ace Arsenal Star, Alex Iwobi Chuka will not be detered by Nigeria's inability to qualify for Afcon 2017, as he fixes his gaze on the under 23 team representing Nigeria at the Rio Olympics in the summer this year. Iwobi was earlier called up to join the team by Samson Siasia, but he was not cleared of his eligibility status by FIFA and as a result, could not participate in the qualifying games. But after his 2 caps with the super eagles, his eligibility status has officially been cleared, so he is free to play for Nigeria in all competitions.
The 19year old who just signed a 30,000 pounds a week contract with Arsenal FC , indicated his intrest to join Samson Siasia's Dream team.
In an interview with Goal.com, he said:
"It was a massive dissapointment for the Team that we did not qualify for the forth comming Africa Cup of Nations".
"The coaches and players worked so hard to gain the ticket but its a shame we didn't get through. We conceeded a late goal in Kaduna and unfortunately we were unable to convert our chances in the second leg in Egypt."
"I am looking forward to the forthcomming olympics and if i am invited,i will do my best to make a meaningful contribution".
"I believe that Nigeria has a crop of excellent players who are capable of doing great things at the olympics. Coach Samson Siasia deserves a lot of praise for securing a place for the nation at the OLympics".
