Nwonsu on Monday afternoon, beat the defending
champion to win the women’s -73kg Power-lifting
event.
Allthough it looked like she was going to settle
for Bronze, Nwosu stepped up in her very last
attempt.
She lifted 140kg to equal the Paralympics
Record (PR) to usurp France’s Souhad
Ghazouani who previously was in the lead.

Omolayo on her part shattered her own World
Record (WR) and set a new one of 138kg to win
Nigeria’s sixth gold.
Team Nigeria still have a good chance of moving
further up on the medals table as they are now
tied on six gold medals with likes of Brazil,
Australia Netherlands and Uzbekistan just ahead
of them.
The aforementioned countries have either more
silver or bronze than Nigeria at the moment.
